A Road Trip Out of Necessary Due to The Earthquake off of Chile Causing a Tsunami off of Hilo, Hawaii
I wouldn't call it a perfect road trip rather a necessary road trip.

This morning we woke to sirens. This is a general alarm in our region telling us a tsunami is coming and it is necessary to get to higher grounds.

Right now, from our view of the coast line there is not much happening, but when the water recedes it will be soon after that a surge will come with the tsunami.

All non-emergency government buildings are closed and everyone here in Hilo is waiting to see what the tsunami will bring.

As I mentioned this is not the perfect road trip, but one that is borne from necessity to get out of our low lying community. This morning while we slept there was an 8.8 magnitude earthquake off the coast of Chile. We are very sorry for the people of Chile and the losses they've had and the damage.

We are hoping the tsunami here in Hilo will not have devastating affects. The word Tsunami is a Japanese word meaning 'harbor wave'.
